Took a stroll down at Laguna Beach with a few friends. It was a Sunday afternoon, the sun was out, but it wasn't too hot. There was a market of some sort going on, and arts and crafts were being sold. People were strolling on the beach with their dogs, and the streets were filled with cars that didn't seem intent on getting anywhere fast.
The place reeked of pretention, however, a sense of I'm -better-than-you permeated the air. From the art stores that sell art pieces that seem to serve no purpose except as an instant label of sophistication, the little hip joint selling overpriced hip gelato in tiny little hip cups, to the perfect family taking a walk with their overdressed 5-year-old. It's very disgusting how an entire area seemingly just wants to look good, even the homeless bums are wearing suits. Worst of all are the pretty people walking their pretty dogs. I'm not talking about your usual hyperactive chihuahuas that bark only at poor people, or even snobby little poodles that look every bit as snobby as their owners are, only with a ribbon tied on their head. I'm talking about the ginormous pure-bred dogs (excuse my lack of breed knowledge) that stand tall with a full body of flowy hair, impeccably groomed. If any dogs are capable of condescendingly stare you down with their nostrils, they are it.
Or maybe pretention is in the eye of the unsophisticated. Maybe I'm just bitter that these dogs probably would scoff at the food I eat (for its lack of nutrional content, no less). Or maybe, just maybe, I resent the fact that my net worth at this point is less than theirs. That's right, I said it, I'm worth less than a dog.

I'm glad you have an English-only blog. Maybe Cali is washing away your FOBness... haha... Dood you should definitely visit the East Coast sometime. Nick and I have been talking about a trip somewhere out of the States. We should all do one.
I don't get to speak Chinese a lot here really even though everyone's saying how it's infested with Asians here.
We'll see about out of the States... I really have no money at this point to go anywhere besides home..
